Homework Week 8


Please complete the following tasks by Friday 6th September.

  1. 100 Word Challenge  – Latest promptThe prompt this week has been suggested by Amber in Ashley School over in New Zealand. She has chosen 5 words for you to use in your writing:

  2. Literature Circles – Please complete all tasks and be prepared to share in your Literature Circle session. Hitler’s Daughter group – remember you are to write a book review this week.

3. Maths: Please solve the following problems using your preferred strategy.

Red:  6 X 24 =             36 ÷ 4 =

Orange:          6 X 240 =        360 ÷ 7 =

Green:      326 X 467 =            456 ÷ 24 =

Purple:      32.4 X 23.56 =          54 233 ÷ 12 =

4. Read at least 4 nights. Record pages read and time spent in your diary. Make sure you get you get your diary signed at least once for the week.

Homework – Week 8

Reading 3 nights this week. This MUST be recorded in your diary, Title, pages and time spent reading.

Homework – Week 6

Hotmaths task

Reading every night for 20 minutes and recording the title, page and the time spent reading in your diary.

I would like you to write a reading response for 2 nights in your Homework Book using the INFERRING skill that we have been practising in class.

Homework – Week 5

Due:  Friday 24th May

  1. This week you need to complete the math task (addition) that you have recorded in your Homework book.
  2. As well as five nights of reading we would also like you to write a reading response for 2 nights in your Homework Book about your reading.  This is using the example shown in class last week (Venn diagram and discussion). Use this as an opportunity to showcase your best work.
  3. Spelling task (apostrophes) complete the task in your homework book. Rewrite the sentences into your book using NEAT  handwriting.

Remember to ask your parents to sign off each of the homework tasks. This way, if there are any issues (like Hotmaths tasks not showing up on Libby’s computer) you will have evidence that the task has been done.

Please make sure you ask for help early in the week if you are having difficulties. You are expected to have your diary at school every day and homework book and diary will be collected on Friday 24th May.

 

Homework – Week 4

Due Friday 17th May

  1. This week you need to complete the HotMaths task addition strategies that have been set for you.
  2. As well as five nights of reading we would also like you to write a reading response for 2 nights in your Homework Book about your reading. In class on Monday, we worked together on how to create an Ideal reading response, comparing and contrasting two characters from Boy Overboard.  Use this modelled example to showcase your best work (setting/characters)in your reading response.

4. Geography task; you need to cut out the continents and glue them in your homework book, in the correct position. Use the written prompts to place the ocean in the exact location.

Remember to ask your parents to sign off each of the homework tasks; in your diary write the following;

Homework – Week 3

Due on Thursday the 9th May 2019

  1. This week you need to complete the HotMaths task set for you.
  2. Tux Typing – 3 nights (or an alternative program)
  3. As well as five nights of reading we would also like you to write a short response for 2 nights in your Homework Book about your reading. Please remember to use any feedback you have been given to improve your work. The prompts below are helpful to guide you.

Try to use 2 different prompts.

a) What do you suppose the character was thinking when…

b) Analyse how the character’s feelings changed in the story.

c) Describe how you would feel if you encountered something like the character in your book.

d) Compare two characters

e) How would you have dealt with the issue that a character from your book is dealing with?

 

 

 

 

Homework – Week 2

  1. This week you need to complete the HotMaths task set for you.
  2. Try to use a different prompt every night

c) Describe how you would feel if you encountered someone like the character in your book.

d) Compare two characters

e) How would you have dealt with the issue that a character from your book is dealing with?

4. Practise touch typing on your computer through the Tux typing program.

Homework Week 10

DUE FRIDAY 5th APRIL

Your homework tasks this week are;

1) Practice your Touch Typing through the Tuxtyping software or Rapid Writing 5 on your computer. Ask a parent to sign in your diary to say you have done this.

2) Use the link below to access Behind the News (BTN), watch the episode titled ‘The First Fleet’ and fill in the table that you have drawn in your homework book to show the different perspectives (Indigenous Australian, Convict  and explorer).

3) 20 minutes of reading each night (5 days). Write four short response in your Homework Book (in complete sentences) about your reading. This MUST include a short summary of what you have read, followed by a variety of responses, for example; connection, question, wondering, prediction.
