Fishy line drawings: Preps

Recently the preps have been working on a drawing of a fish using oil pastels. Last week they learnt how to paint a wash over their drawing. The next step for these drawings are the creation of a special fishy scale and making an underwater environment for them. Keep watching this space to see how they turn out!

This week we took a break from those fish artworks to explore line in students visual arts diaries. Students started off with a loopy, wavy line and turned it into an under water scene! Students talked about all the different lines they used in their artworks as well as the types of creatures they might find under the sea.

Bird collage: Grade 1/2

Grade 1/2 students have had a fantastic two weeks in the visual arts room working on their textured bird collages. Students talked about the features of a bird as well as differences they saw in images of birds. They discussed how some birds were in mid flight, standing on the ground and had large beaks. Some birds even had spiked feathers for hair! Students used their rubbing charts to cut out shapes to create a bird of their choice. After finishing their collage, students added details using black marker or grey lead pencil. Have a look at some of the fabulous results!

What’s in your world? Body sculptures: Grade 3/4

This week in drama students in grade 3 and 4 explored the idea of different worlds. They made a list of all of the different worlds they were apart of which included, school, sporting teams and the world of their imaginations. Students discussed the following questions as a class:

What different worlds are you apart of? What is a world? What is a world made up of ? What different rules are in these worlds?

The photos below show students working in pairs to create a body sculpture which reflects their chosen world. They focused on creating interesting shapes with their bodies and exploring facial expressions.
