Hi Nancy,
Thay kahoot was really fun! What language can you remember automatically? The language i remembered automatically was probably the “What type of film is this.” Also I looked for some words inside of the italian words.

I noticed that they are easy to remember and that they have some really similar words inside of the other words.

I noticed that the order is really different and that you can get tricked really easily if you are not paying attention.

Abby

Grazie for the feedback Abby. I am glad you enjoyed the quiz and learnt some new phrases in Italian. Your reflection was detailed and showed me that you are using some great strategies to help with comprehension and also noticing more about the structure of the language such as word order. πŸ™‚ Ottimo!

I really liked the Kahoot and i enjoyed the lesson and learnt a lot
Thanks Nancy
Evie

Grazie, Evie. I am glad that you liked the lesson and learnt some new things. πŸ™‚

I noticed that the Italian words for the genres and other things were extremely similar.

Thanks for the lesson Nancy!

Ottimo lavoro! (Awesome work!) I saw your Kahoot result πŸ™‚ Eccellente! Yes, the film genres and some tv show categories are very similar to English making it easier to understand what’s being said.

most of the works had i in them

Ciao Ethan. If you mean that most of the sentences started with ‘i’ you are right. This means ‘the’. Italians say:
The films of horror – I film dell’orrore. ‘I’ (the) in this case is plural. This is a case where Italian is very different to English and word for word translation doesn’t make sense in English. πŸ™‚

Q2
they all had some part of the word I could relate to English

Ciao Henry. Yes, the Italian words for movie genres and tv categories were very similar to English which made it easier for you to understand and hopefully remember. πŸ™‚

Cosa guardi, Cosa preferisci and i film d’avventurna etc.
I can remember this sort of language because it’s the two way to ask what I watch.

Grazie for your reflection. I noticed you haven’t tried the Kahoot quiz yet. I’d like to see how you do.

That kahoot was amazing! There was a question that I got wrong, and I’m pretty sure i got it right! Overall it was pretty good!

Grazie Cassie. You did a fantastic job on the quiz. I saw your result. The question you are talking about was ‘Cosa preferisci?’ (What’s your favourite?) I was being evil, Cassie. πŸ™‚ In Italian, this means ‘What’s your favourite’ but in English we think ‘prefer’ because we can see the English word in ‘preferisci’.

I noticed that that the Italian words for movie genres are quite similar to the words in English. I know that most Latin languages are similar and that most of English is based off Latin and French (as well as Germanic and Greek) so I am guessing that the movie and tv show genre words are from Latin or French.

Grazie Isabella. Your reflection was detailed and shows me you are analysing the language more and thinking about word origins. You did a fantastic job on the Kahoot quiz. Ottimo lavoro! Great result! πŸ™‚

Hi Nancy!
The kahoot was really fun and i found that a lot of the words were similar to English and the Italian words had English words inside them. That was the strategy i used to answer the questions. Thanks for making this a fun lesson! πŸ™‚

Ottimo! πŸ™‚ Great observations about the Italian words and sentences. Great to have you back too! πŸ˜€ We missed you!
