Ciao Year 3/4s,

Listen to Nancy read the blog post below:

This week you will draft a paragraph about your hairstyle and colour of your hair, your eye colour and your TV show and film preferences. You will use the sentences from last week’s texts about Emma to create your paragragph.

L.G. I can create a text about myself to describe my hair and eyes and to express my preferences about films and tv shows.

You may need to revise this work. Here are the two lesson links.

Click on the link below to go over language about hair and eyes.

Lesson – Hair and eye description.

Click on the link below to go over expressing preferences about TV and films

Lesson – Expressing preferences TV shows and films.

Activity

You will use teacher modelled sentences and use the words and phrases we have learnt about both topics to make up your own paragraph. Your paragraph will look something like Emma’s except yours will be about you!

First, let’s re-read the text about Emma.

Ciao! Mi chiamo Emma.

Ho venti anni.

Ho i capelli corti e lisci.

I miei capelli sono castani.

Ho gli occhi verdi.

Mi piacciono i film d’avventura e i film fantascienza.

Amo i film di fantasia.

Adoro i reality show.

Detesto i documentari.

Arrivederci!

Listen to Nancy read out the following instructions below:

Next, the Italian sentences below are the ones you will use. You will need to fill in the information about yourself. Follow what it says in the brackets. You must include the English translation. I have written the English sentence underneath the first couple of Italian sentences to show you.

You can create a PowerPoint presentation and provide an illustration/picture for each sentence.

OR

You can create a handwritten poster and draw a picture of yourself and some of the things you’ve written about in your sentences.

THE SENTENCES YOU NEED TO CREATE YOUR PARAGRAPH ARE:

  • Ciao. Mi chiamo (fill in your Name).
  • Hi. My name is  ________.
  • Ho (fill in your age in words) anni.
  • I am ___ years old.
  • Ho i capelli _(fill in your hair colour)___  e   _(fill in your hair length).
  • I miei capelli sono  (fill in a description of your hair).
  • Ho gli occhi (fill in your eye colour).

  • Non mi piaccciono (fill in your preferences about movies and tv shows)._
  • Adoro __(fill in your preferences about movies and tv shows).
  • Detesto_(fill in your preferences about movies and tv shows).

Ciao Year 3/4,

Listen to Nancy read the instruction to this week’s lesson.

L.G. I know the Italian words for some parts of the face.

First, Revise the Italian words for the parts of the face. Here are the words we have learnt so far. If you can’t remember what they mean, go back to last week’s lesson.

Next, choose one of the following activities:

ACTIVITY 1. FLASHCARD MEMORY GAME

If you have a printer, print the PDF flashcard template document below.

Loader Loading...
EAD Logo Taking too long?

Reload Reload document
| Open Open in new tab

Download

If you don’t have a printer, make your own like this.

Step 1. Get some paper. Fold the paper in half vertically. See below.

Step 2. Fold the paper the half horizontally. See below.

Step 3. Fold the paper over again to make thirds. See below.

Step 4. Your paper should look like this when it’s flat. See below.

Step 5. You will need 22 rectangular cards of the same size. Write the Italian face part words on eleven of the cards. Draw or write the English words on the remaining eleven cards.

Step 6. Play alone or with a family member. In bocca al lupo! (Good luck!)

HOW TO PLAY THE GAME

Place the English word/picture cards face down in a designated area on the table or floor.

Place Italian word cards face down beside the English cards. See my example below.

Pick up a card from the Italian side and try and find the matching English words. If they match you keep the cards.  If they don’t, you put them back in the same place and try again.

Continue to do this until you have found the matching pair for each Italian word.

If you are playing with a partner, the person with the most pairs wins.

Activity 2.  DRAW AND LABEL A FACE

Draw a face and ensure all the parts that we have learnt are drawn. Draw arrows and label the face with the correct Italian words.

Draw a robot or your favourite character and do the same.

Ensure the drawings are large enough to  label.

Then, take a photo of you playing the game or of the labelled picture and send it to my email address below. I’d love to see your work!

Nunzia.Berardone@education.vic.gov.au

Keep up the amazing effort Year 3/4!
