Ciao Year 1/2,

The video below is a quiz about animals and adjectives. It is going over what we have learnt the last few weeks. This is the only activity for this week.

L.G. I know the Italian names of some animals and I know what some Italian adjectives mean.

Listen to Nancy read the instructions.

 Activity Instructions:

First, get a sheet of paper and write the learning goal.

Next, write the numbers 1 to 15 down the left-hand side of your page. See my example below.

Then start the quiz. Remember to press pause after each question so that you have time to write down your answers. Buona fortuna! (Good luck!)

Finally, correct your work. The answers are on this video after question 15. You can complete this quiz as many times as you like to get better at remembering your Italian animal words and adjectives.

I’d love to see how you did! 😊  Send a photo to:

Email: Nunzia.Berardone@education.vic.gov.au

Keep up the amazing work! 😀

Ciao Year 5/6 studenti,

Listen to Nancy read the lesson/activity instructions below.

This week’s leaning focus is being able to listen to a short Italian text that has familiar language and translate it into English without the aid of a translator.

L.G. I can listen to a simple Italian passage that has familiar language and translate it into English.

Words that you haven’t been introduced to that will be in the passages:

  • Vengo da….. / I come from…
  • Parlo …… /  I speak …….
  • Abito a ……/ I live in ……

First, choose a passage, from the list below, according to the level of difficulty you are comfortable with.

Next, listen to the passage of your choice a few times before you begin to translate.

Then, begin to translate the passage. Listen to the first sentence, pause the recording, and write what you think that sentence means. Continue translating sentence by sentence, pausing the recording whenever you need to. You have learnt that there is not always word-for-word equivalence when translating from Italian to English. Your English translation needs to make sense in English.

Do your best and see what you have learnt so far!  🙂

CHOOSE ONE OF THESE RECORDINGS TO TRANSLATE:

Easy – A simple short passage about where Lilly comes from.

Medium – A little more detailed passage about Sara.

Harder – A more detailed passage about Angela’s background and preferences.

Finally, take a CLEAR photo of your work and send it to my email address:

Nunzia.Berardone@education.vic.gov.au

Keep up the fantastic effort Year 5/6!

Download

If you don’t have a printer, make your own like this.

Step 1. Get some paper. Fold the paper in half vertically. See below.

Step 2. Fold the paper the half horizontally. See below.

Step 3. Fold the paper over again to make thirds. See below.

Step 4. Your paper should look like this when it’s flat. See below.

Step 5. You will need 22 rectangular cards of the same size. Write the Italian face part words on eleven of the cards. Draw or write the English words on the remaining eleven cards.

Step 6. Play alone or with a family member. In bocca al lupo! (Good luck!)

HOW TO PLAY THE GAME

Place the English word/picture cards face down in a designated area on the table or floor.

Place Italian word cards face down beside the English cards. See my example below.

Pick up a card from the Italian side and try and find the matching English words. If they match you keep the cards.  If they don’t, you put them back in the same place and try again.

Continue to do this until you have found the matching pair for each Italian word.

If you are playing with a partner, the person with the most pairs wins.

Activity 2.  DRAW AND LABEL A FACE

Draw a face and ensure all the parts that we have learnt are drawn. Draw arrows and label the face with the correct Italian words.

Draw a robot or your favourite character and do the same.

Ensure the drawings are large enough to  label.

Then, take a photo of you playing the game or of the labelled picture and send it to my email address below. I’d love to see your work!

Keep up the amazing effort Year 3/4!
