Wolf Girl

Wolf Girl 5 by Anh Do: Thanks Elsa, we have Wolf Girl 1-4 and will get 5 when it’s released. I’ve enjoyed reading this series too and he always leaves you wanting to find out what happens next! We’ve recently added some books from his other series to the collection too, you may enjoy these from his “Hot Dog”, “Skydragon” and “Weirdo” collections in Fiction (DO). Update 2021-Wolf Girl 5 has arrived-hurrah! Update 2022-Wolf Girl 6 is here!

Little People, Big Dreams: Thanks Holly. We’ve had lots of requests for these from students and teachers so we will definitely try to add some to our collection. Look in the Non-Fiction section in 920 for more biographies. We’ve added some new ones recently about historical figures like “Rachel’s War”. Keep an eye on the What’s New Page and Displays for more. Update November 2021-We now have a good collection of these books-yay!

Morris Gleitzman

Morris Gleitzman: He’s is such a great writer and has written a lot of books. We do have some in our collection including the “Once” series which is sad/ funny/ intriguing. Check out the Fiction section under ‘GLE’ to see which books of his we have, we will definitely keep building our Gleitzman collection. Look out for “Deadly” and “Wicked” too which are funny ones he co-wrote with Paul Jennings.

More Colourings: Yes! These have been very popular during Library Lunchtimes so I’ve been trying to add some more pages including animals, space and book themes. See here for some you can print and colour at home.

Real Pigeons books: We have the first book in the series, “Real Pigeons Fight Crime” by Andrew McDonald in Fiction MCD. He has now released 7 of them so we may get some more. Check out the Graphic Novel section and Humorous Fiction box for similar titles.

The Descendants: I know this is a popular Disney show and I can see there are 5 books in the series written by Melissa de la Cruz. I will look into them and in the meantime, you might want to have a look at the Three Doors Trilogy by Emily Rodda (ROD).

More “Diary Of a Wimpy Kid” by Jeff Kinney: Thanks Rosie. Oh yes these are so funny and popular and there are now 15 of them in the series! We have the books 1-11 in our collection (KIN) but most of them are on loan at the moment so we’ll look into getting more. You might also enjoy the “Captain Underpants” series by Dav Pilkey (PIL) and other funny books in the Humorous Fiction box.

Ella Diaries: Thanks for this suggestion! We have a few books in this series as well as other books by the author Meredith Costain (COS) and she has written some of “Aussie Nibbles” stories. You might enjoy some of the other “Aussie Nibbles” books (on shelf with short chapter books) and the “Dork Diaries” series by Rachel Renee Russell (RUS).

Nova Weetman

Nova Weetman: We currently have 2 of her books, “Outstanding Octokey” and “Sick Bay” (WEE in Fiction), and have recently received “Elsewhere Girls” which she co-wrote with Emily Gale. I was interested to learn she is based in Melbourne. John Marsden (MAR) and Anh Do (DOA) explore similar themes.

Deltora Quest: I’m happy to say we have lots of books by Emily Rodda including the Deltora Quest series under ROD in fiction. We also have her Raven Hill Mystery series which you might be interested in. Cressida Cowell’s “How to Train your Dragon” series are also great fantasy books (COW).

More Harry Potter Books: There’s never enough Harry Potter! We do have multiple copies of all 7 books in the series but they are often on loan. You might enjoy “The Tales of Beedle the Bard” also by JK Rowling (ROW) or other fantasy novels by Emily Rodda or Cressida Cowell (see above) or in the Fantasy Fiction box.

Cathy Cassidy

Cathy Cassidy: Thanks Chloe. She has some really great stories and we do have 2 of them so far, “Daisy Star Ooh La La” and “Summer’s Dream” in Fiction under CAS. You might also want to check out Jacqueline Wilson (WIL) for another great British Junior Fiction writer.

David Walliams: I also love his books Isobel, they’re so funny! We currently have “Ratburger” and “Billionaire Boy” in our Fiction collection (WAL) and I have collected some similar books in the Humorous Fiction box. David says that Roald Dahl (DAH) is one of his biggest inspirations and you might also enjoy Paul Jennings’ (JEN) strange stories too.

Belinda Murrell: Thanks for this. We have some books of hers from her Time Slip, Lulu Belle and Pippa’s Island series in Fiction (MUR). I will add her Time Slip series books to our Historical Fiction box and you might enjoy Louisa May Alcott’s “Little Women” and “Little Men” Books too (ALC) and the “Our Australian Girl” series.

Atticus Van Tasticus

Atticus Van Tasticus: Thanks Eva. This looks like a fun Pirate inspired book by Andrew Daddo. We have the first one in the series in our fiction section (DAD) and hopefully we’ll get the next two. See the Humorous Fiction box for similar books.

Julianne Negri

The Secret Library of Hummingbird House: Thanks Eva J. I’m happy to report that we do have a copy of this book by Julianne Negri (NEG). It’s her first novel and sounds really interesting especially as a library’s involved! We have recently added books 2,3 and 4 of “Wolf Girl” by Anh Do (DO) to our collection. You may enjoy the adventure in these too!

Michael Scott: He’s such an epic Fantasy writer! We have recently added his book “The Enchantress” to our catalogue (SCO). I’ll keep my eyes out for more. Look out for C.S. Lewis’ Narnia Series too (LEW) for more fantastical fiction.

Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis/ The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani: We have got the 7 books in the Narnia series here (LEW). I loved reading them too! We haven’t currently got any Chainani books, they look like a great fantasy series, thanks for the suggestion. Emily Rodda (ROD) has written lots of interesting Fantasy series too.

Keep the suggestions coming! Happy reading, Yvette
