Maths – Worded Problems

Good morning everyone!

After your group meeting today, please select at least three (3) worded problems to solve. You can select any 3 questions, however we want you to select questions that are ‘just right’ for you. Remember to highlight the important words that help you work out what the question is asking you to do.

List One:

Now, it is your turn to solve – choose three today

Harry McKay kicked 53 goals in 2021.Tex Walker kicked 32 goals in 2021. How many more goals did Harry kick than Tex?

Max collected Pokémon cards as a hobby. He collected 3 cards on Monday, 12 cards on Tuesday and 7 cards on Wednesday. How many cards did he collect altogether?

Danielle took her dogs for a walk 3 times per day. How many times did she walk her dog after 6 days?
There are 3 bunches of bananas in one tree and 5 bunches in another tree. If each bunch has 6 bananas in it how many bananas are there all together?

There are 3 bunches of bananas in one tree and 5 bunches in another tree. If each bunch has 6 bananas in it how many bananas are there all together? During the night 5 little monkeys eat 3 bananas each. How many bananas are left?

There are 49 mangoes in one tree and 64 mangoes in another tree. During the night 4 flying foxes eat 5 mangoes each. How many mangoes are not eaten?

There are 64 cherries in one tree and 82 in another tree. If each cherry is a pair, how many pairs of cherries are there? If Mary picks them all, how many cherries does Mary have altogether?
Create your own problem and solve it!

List Two:

Sally was given $20 to go to the movies. She spent $12 on her ticket, $2 on a drink and $1 on bubble gum. How much money did she have left?

Bob was given $15 to go to the movies. He spent $6.50 on his ticket, $2 on a drink and 50 cents on bubble gum. How much money did he have left?

Betty was given $20 to go to the movies. She spent $12.75 on her ticket, $2.55 on a drink and 80 cents on bubble gum. How much money did she have left?

Jack and Bart were given $30 dollars each to go to the movies. Jack Spent $17 on a student ticket and $7 at game zone playing video games. Bart also spent $17 dollars on a student movie ticket, however he spent $12 at game zone playing video games. Once the boys had had enough, they decided to get ice cream. The ice cream bill came to $14 dollars altogether. Did the boys have enough money to pay for their ice- cream?

Good luck and remember, we can work through these together at our 12pm catch up.

See you soon,
Meredith
