LG: I can demonstrate my understanding of place value.

  • Pick a five digit number and write your number (using its digits).
  • Name your number (write it in words).
  • Rename your number in as many different ways as you can. Remember how we used number expanders to do this in class:

  • Starting at your number, can you count on by tens? (stop after ten numbers)
  • Starting at your number, can you count on by hundreds? (stop after ten numbers)
  • Starting at your number, can you count on by tens? (stop after ten numbers)
  • Starting at your number, can you count on by hundreds? (stop after ten numbers)
  • Starting at your number, can you count on by thousands? (stop after ten numbers)
  • Round your number to the nearest 10.
  • Round your number to the nearest 100.
  • Round your number to the nearest 1000.
