Learning goal: I can continue to participate in a range of net/wall games
Now: Balloon World Cup You can play with a family member or by yourself
Equipment:
- balloon- (sock, tennis ball)
- household items to create an obstacle
How to Play:
- finding open space, set up different obstacles using household items
Level 1
- Working with a partner keep the balloon up using only your hands.
- The aim is to avoid the obstacles and keep the ball up working as a team.
- See how long you can keep it up
Level 2
- Competing against your partner keep the balloon up using only your hands.
- The aim is to avoid the obstacles and keep the balloon up
- If you hit the balloon and it touches the ground before your partner can return you score the point
- First player up to 10 is the winner
Activity time: 10 mins
Before playing the next game, revise the 4 R’s and notice how you can use these when playing:
- READ the ball and player movement – where is it going?
- RESPOND with a movement – where and how should I move?
- REACT with a shot – what type of shot will I use? Where am I aiming for?
- RECOVER for the next shot – where should I move to? How do I prepare for the next shot?
Next: Hand badminton You will need a family member to play this game with
Equipment:
- Newspaper ball, hacky-sack or badminton shuttle
How to play:
- with a partner attempt to keep the shuttle off the floor taking it in turns to hit the ball underhand and into the air
- the player who fails to keep the shuttle in the air grants the other player a point
- from the serve, one player tosses the ball in the air and then hit it underarm and upwards into the air and players take turns to strike the ball upwards.
- the player winning the rally earns the right to serve

Then: Newcomb ball: You will need a family member to play this game with
Equipment:
- Ball-soccer, netball, basketball or tennis ball
- Net-use chair or a rolled-up towel to mark out 2 different zones
How to play:
- with your partner, one on each side of the net, throw and catch the ball over the net trying to prevent it from touching the ground
Level 1
- start the game by throwing the ball over the net and your partner catching it. Continue to see how long your rally will last
- you cannot move your feet if you have the ball in your hands
- play up to 15 points
Level 2
- now play competitively against your partner. The player who drops the ball, doesn’t catch or throws the ball outside the playing area grants a point to the other player.

Level 3
- now play competitively against your partner.
- you can only catch the ball above your head and you cannot move your feet once you have caught the ball
- play up to 15 points
