This week you have only 2 homework items.

  1. Please read, discuss with your parents, sign and get parent/carer to sign the acceptable use for digital technology agreement. The link below will take you to the full document on the school website.

2.  As well as 4 nights of reading we would also like you to write a short response for each night in your Homework Book (1-2 sentences) about your reading, this could be a question, a wondering, a connection or a prediction. This is NOT a summary of what you have read.

Homework Week 6 – due on the 8th of March

This week for homework:

  1. 100 Word Challenge prompt for this week is a list of 5 words that need to be included in your writing. Please make sure you PLAN your piece BEFORE writing, PROOF-READ and EDIT before publishing.  The words are: RED   LADDER   SINKING   COINS   PAVEMENT
  2. As well as 5 nights of reading we would also like you to write a short response for each night in your Homework Book (1-2 sentences) about your reading, this could be a question, a wondering, a connection or a prediction. This is to be written in your homework book. This is NOT a summary of what you have read.
  3. Your maths task this week is a problem-solving question. There will be a variety of answers across the class. We are more interested in how you worked it out than the actual answer. You need to record your thinking in your homework book. The question is:  Mum has given you a shopping list (milk, eggs, bread, cheese and orange juice) $10. Can you purchase everything on the list? What combinations could you buy?  Show all your working out. (Do not erase any of your mistakes – simply put a line through).

This week for homework:

  1. 100 Word Challenge, this week we are focusing on feedback. For homework, you need to read the feedback from me and then use this to improve your piece. You must re-post and edit your piece based on the feedback I have given you. If you did not have any areas for improvement you can re-post your piece and add what happens next.
  2. As well as 5 nights of reading we would also like you to write a short response for each night (1-2 sentences) about your reading, this could be wondering, a connection or a prediction. This is to be written in your diary.
  3. Your maths task this week is a problem-solving question. There could be a variety of answers across the class.  I am interested in  how you worked out the answer. You need to record your thinking in your homework book. The question is: What size shoe do you have? Ian Thorpe (Famous Australian Swimmer) has a shoe size of 17. How would you work out how long that is? Show all your working out. (Do not erase any of your mistakes)

  1. Diary must be at school every day. The teacher will check and sign every Friday. Please ensure your parent/guardian has signed them by Thursday each week.
  2. Reading; Please make sure you have read at least 5 times for the week for at least 20 minutes each time. Your reading log will be recorded in your diary and should be checked by parents.
  3. Practice your multiplication fact goal by logging into http://www.timestables.me.uk/ (you should practice these 3 times at least) write your practice sessions into your diaries and ask your parents to confirm this by signing it on Thursday (with one signature). If you are unable to access the website, you can practice your number facts in your homework book, make flashcards and posters.
  4. 100-word challenge, this is to be posted on your blog.This week we have a photo for you to write about

    Things to think about:

    • Where is this bear?
    • Who did it belong to?
    • Why has it been dropped?
    • How does it’s owner feel?

 

Homework week 3

  1. Diary: your diary must be at school every day, I will be checking your diary on Friday. please ensure that a Parent or guardian has signed it by Thursday night.

  3.  Maths: practise your multiplication factor goals
  4. 100-word challenge, (this is to be posted on your blog) This weeks prompt is: ….it was completely out of tune!
  5. Writer’s notebook; this week you will need to collect a variety of items to decorate your writer’s notebook this can include photos, pictures of food, movie tickets, cards, ect.. all items that reflect your personality.
